  • Picturesque natural landscape with the characteristic Moselle bends
  • Romantic castle ruins along the shore
  • Excursion destinations worth seeing such as historic Trier
  • Wine lovers get their money's worth

Anyone opting for a camping holiday on the Moselle should not miss out on a tour by boat along the characteristic bends and be sure to stop off in Trier, which is well worth a visit. Special features of camping on the Moselle

The Moselle is the second longest tributary of the Rhine and winds its way through the Moselle valley from Trier to Koblenz between the mountainous slopes of the Eifel and Hunsrück . It's a beautiful landscape that offers many picturesque campsites in fantastic riverside locations, and not just along the Moselle bend, the most famous loop of the river. Bathing holidaymakers, water sports enthusiasts and children with families will find the best conditions for a carefree holiday camping in the countryside.

Active holidaymakers also get their money's worth in the Moselle valley. A dense network of well-developed hiking trails runs through the region. The Moselsteig quality hiking trail, which is one of the most beautiful tours in Germany and can also be explored in individual day stages, is particularly well-known. The idyllic vineyards around Bernkastel-Kues and Traben-Trarbach are ideal for excursions - real connoisseurs can then savour one of the region's fine wines.

Dogs are allowed at most campsites on the Moselle. Thanks to the many hiking trails along the banks of the river, the Moselle valley is ideal for long walks with your four-legged companion. In summer, dogs can also refresh themselves in the cool water. Cyclists can explore the region on the famous Moselle cycle path, which leads to the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz . Conveniently, bike hire is available at many campsites.

The district town of Cochem is one of the most popular holiday resorts in the Moselle valley and a great destination for a day trip. The town's landmark is the Reichsburg Cochem, which is enthroned 100 metres above the Moselle on the castle hill in the middle of the town and offers wonderful views of the picturesque surroundings. Also worth seeing are the historic old town, the Capuchin monastery and the remains of the medieval town wall with its old fortifications. The mixture of pretty old town, many cosy restaurants and wine taverns and beautiful nature enchants thousands of visitors every year - a visit to Cochem should therefore be a must.
