Relaxation, water sports and nature await visitors at the 4-star campsites on Lake Maggiore, right on the southern edge of the Alps. The well-kept campsites are located on the shores of the lake, surrounded by exotic vegetation of palm trees and flowering gardens. The valleys of Valle Maggia and Centrovalli are popular excursion destinations for hikers and nature lovers. The crystal-clear water of the Alpine glaciers flows through the valleys and directly into Lake Maggiore.
There is plenty to discover at the 4-star campsite on Lake Maggiore, from culture and nature to bike tours and hikes. The islands of Lake Maggiore can be visited and the picturesque valleys around the lake are waiting to be discovered.
The three small islands of Lake Maggiore are a favourite excursion destination for many visitors and a highlight. Isola Bella is known throughout Europe for its picturesque garden landscape and its island sister, Isola Madre, also impresses with its colourful fauna and flora as well as interesting birdlife. Isola dei Pescatori is a culinary delight. Its charming village, which is still inhabited today, attracts visitors with its cosy bistros and small restaurants. The typical local specialities are served fresh here. All three islands are easy to reach by sea taxi or ferry.
For all lovers of botanical gardens, we recommend a visit to Villa Taranto, which is located in the small town of Verbania, around 7 kilometres from Lake Maggiore. You can get there by car or by public bus, which stops about 200 metres from Villa Taranto.
The legendary Lake Maggiore Express starts in the small town of Domodossola. The picturesque village of Santa Maria Maggiore can be visited en route, and the panoramic journey then takes you to the terminus in Locarno, Switzerland. The ferry then takes you along the coast and through the villages back to the starting point, the 4-star campsite on Lake Maggiore.
A colourful programme of events inspires camping holidaymakers on the shores of Lake Maggiore all year round.
