Glamping in Austria is the perfect way to relax in front of stunning Alpine peaks, on the steppe lakes in Burgenland or on river meadows such as the Danube. Glamping is a holiday close to nature with real camping flair and a touch more luxury and comfort. The choice of glamping rental accommodation in Austria is huge: whether it's a lodge tent, luxury tent or safari tent, comfortable mobile home, luxurious caravan, charming wagon, bivouac by the lake, airy tree house or fully equipped alpine hut. A glamping holiday in the Alpine republic is luxurious and the accommodation is extensively equipped. There are comfortable beds, a kitchen, bathroom, seating area and television. It is no coincidence that glamping combines camping with glamour. New glamping accommodation on campsites or even entire glamping villages are popping up all the time in Austria, such as in Carinthia, where the Glamping Village Kötschach, nestled between the Gailtal Alps and the Carnic Alps, combines a camping feeling with luxury in its tree houses, luxury tents and chalets, setting new standards at the entrance to the unspoilt Lesach Valley and providing a contrast to simple camping in a tent.
Those who want to spend their holiday luxury camping in Austria are often drawn to the Alps. The Hohe Tauern in particular fascinate with their snow-capped peaks and lush green valleys, which provide the perfect backdrop for Alpine camping. Tyrol also offers a wonderful backdrop for family holidays with the limestone formations in the Karwendel and the Tux Alps. The Kaiser Mountains in the north of Tyrol offer a good mix of flatlands and mountains. The massif rises between towns such as Kufstein, Elmau and St. Johann in Tirol. Here you can spend the night in an exclusive lodge tent with veranda just a few minutes from the cable car. This takes holidaymakers quickly and comfortably up into the mountains for hiking or skiing in winter. Classic Austrian holiday destinations include the region around the Zugspitze, the Zillertal and Styria, which is particularly famous for its wine and castles in the south of the Alpine republic. A slightly Mediterranean flair blends into the Alpine world in the province of Carinthia. Glamping accommodation in Austria can also be rented at Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland, in the Wachau in the Danube valley and in the west of the country in Vorarlberg. Austria is predestined for a camping holiday by the lake with its many bodies of water. Campsites with a glamping factor offer comfortable accommodation with lake views. At Lake Millstätter See, for example, you can spend the night in a bivouac right by the lake. Turnersee, Wörthersee and Attersee are also attractive destinations for a glamping holiday by the water.
The most beautiful glamping sites in Austria include those in Carinthia, which are located directly on one of the many lakes, for example. The sites in Tyrol, which are usually located in idyllic natural surroundings, are also particularly attractive. Glamping is diverse and there is suitable rental accommodation in Austria for all target groups. From a romantic tree house in the treetops for couples, to a spacious tent with a safari feeling for the whole family, to a cosy chalet for campers with dogs, everything is possible.
This is one of the most beautiful campsites in Austria, which also offers glamping. It is located in Schluga in the province of Carinthia. You can spend the night in rustic wooden barrels with comfortable mattresses and a cosy seating area including a TV. You can also rent luxurious mobile homes with panoramic windows, a modern Scandinavian wooden design, kitchen and spacious terrace. The family-friendly campsite also offers children's entertainment, an outdoor and indoor pool and a sauna.
This glamping site especially for luxury-oriented camping fans is located just a few minutes south of Innsbruck on the idyllic Lake Natterer See. Here, guests can enjoy plenty of peace and quiet in one of the well-equipped wooden cabins with a terrace. In addition to these glamping accommodations, you can also choose one of the wood lodges, safari lodges or sleeping barrels. Glamorous camping and luxury camping in Austria means having exquisite furniture, a kitchen with dining area and a comfortable bathroom with rain shower at your disposal. The site even won the ADAC Camping Award in 2021.
In Carinthia, the Ossiacher See with the Seecamping Berghof entices you to enjoy a luxurious camping holiday in Austria. The site is surrounded by picturesque deciduous trees and is just a few steps away from the beach with bathing platforms. Rental caravans, holiday homes and mobile homes are available in which you will find, for example, a kitchen, a cosy dining and living area and several bedrooms. The campsite is located directly on the south shore road.
The mobile homes at Terrassencamping Maltatal are small chalets for a holiday in the countryside. Families in particular feel at home here at the glamping site, as there is plenty on offer for the little ones: an adventure playground, a petting zoo, tractor rides and an entertainment programme for children provide the best entertainment. Parents can relax in the wellness area of the resort. Family holidays with glamping flair take place here amidst the backdrop of the Carinthian Alps on the edge of the Hohe Tauern National Park and it is not for nothing that Malta is known as a mountaineering village. In addition to the Maltaberg, there are many other peaks to explore on extended hikes or mountaineering tours.
Camping Grubhof offers a special kind of glamping and takes its guests back in time. In Salzburger Land, old alpine huts have been dismantled and rebuilt true to the original on the grounds of the holiday resort. In the alpine huts for 2 to 10 people, the authentic charm of days gone by and the comfort of today are in perfect harmony and are a real insider tip for glamping. Camping Grubhof is nestled in the mountains of the Loferer Steinberge and the Berchtesgaden Alps. With its rustic inn and beautiful sauna area, the site is ideal for a camping holiday in spring, summer and autumn and also for winter camping, when the wood-burning stove crackles cosily in your own alpine hut.
It is above all nature that inspires with mountains such as the Grossglockner and the Krimml Waterfalls on a glamping holiday in Austria. Culture fans will get their money's worth in the Wachau, for example in the old town of Krems or by visiting the provincial capital of their holiday region.
At 3,798 metres, the Großglockner is the highest mountain in Austria. If you're not an ambitious mountaineer, you can simply drive from the glamping site to the high Alpine road. This leads travellers to the Edelweissspitze with its popular viewing tower. From here, you have a marvellous view of the snow-capped peaks in the surrounding area. A recommended detour leads along the glacier road to the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe with the panorama of the Pasterzen glacier.
In the UNESCO-protected cultural landscape of the Wachau, a special attraction awaits glampers in the historic centre of Krems. The centre will delight you with its baroque churches and the Steiner Tor. The striking town hall and parish church are also real highlights in the town centre.
At around 385 metres, these are the highest waterfalls in Austria. Located near Krimml in the province of Salzburg, they are part of the Hohe Tauern National Park and are flanked by a waterfall hiking trail. You can walk up the steps parallel to the river cascades.
The Kopfing treetop walk invites you to take a walk in the treetops in the Innkreis region. With a length of more than 1 km, it is one of the longest treetop trails in the world. Walking along it at a height of up to 15 metres is a very special experience. As a forest recreation park with many adventure stations all about the flora and fauna of the region, the Kopfing treetop walk is also a great alternative to the classic family hike in the mountains. The highlight of the excursion is the 40 metre high viewing tower, which offers a view of the border triangle of Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic.
