Glamping is where two different worlds meet: guests usually spend the night surrounded by unspoilt countryside. At the same time, campers in lodge tents, mobile homes or other accommodation enjoy the numerous benefits that are otherwise only available in high-class hotels. Campers can spend the night in a luxury tent, a wood lodge, a safari tent or an airlodge. Alternatively, glamping on a farm is also an option. Very nature-loving guests can spend their camping holiday in the comfort of their favourite accommodation. This combination makes glamping just as popular with families with children as it is with single travellers and couples of all ages.

Travelling to the glamping accommodation

Travelling by car is easy, especially when glamping in Germany and neighbouring countries. Alternatively, holidaymakers can also travel to glamping in the Netherlands or other destinations by flight or train. Luggage can be light: most glamping sites are fully equipped, so holidaymakers only need to pack clothes and other personal items. When travelling with a dog, various entry requirements must be checked in advance: in some countries, certain vaccinations are required, which must be carried out a few weeks in advance. For longer journeys in particular, such as glamping in Switzerland, it is important that the four-legged friends are kept safe and comfortable in the car. Regular breaks in between are recommended, especially on long car journeys. The best thing to do is to alternate between drivers. This is particularly important when on holiday in Spain, Portugal or other more distant destinations. If it is not possible to change drivers, you can also take overnight breaks on the way to your final destination. Holidaymakers should find out about the features of the rental accommodation before they arrive so that they are well prepared.

Top regions for glamping

The whole of Europe is ideal for an unforgettable glamping experience. Alpine countries such as Austria, Italy and France are extremely popular. Glamping in Switzerland is also an insider tip. Holidaymakers usually spend the night in the middle of unspoilt landscapes or even in the heart of a nature park. When you wake up, you can enjoy a fantastic view over the Alps and the fresh mountain air rounds off your stay perfectly. Those who prefer to soak up the sun and swim in the sea can spend a varied holiday in the south of Europe. When glamping in Italy, you can even travel by car at any time. Glampers can expect a Mediterranean flair on the picturesque sandy beaches along the Mediterranean. Many glamping sites are within walking distance of beautiful sandy beaches that invite you to sunbathe, swim and relax in the warm summer months. The south of Italy in particular is known for its kilometres of fine sandy beaches, while the north of the country has some wild and romantic stretches of coastline. Glamping is also very popular in Croatia. The country in south-east Europe impresses with its great hospitality and varied landscape. In addition to idyllic stretches along the Adriatic coast, travellers can also look forward to impressive nature parks inland. However, you don't have to travel too far to go glamping, as there are also numerous interesting places in Germany. In addition to the low mountain ranges and the Alps, the North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts are among the most popular glamping destinations.

Glamping accommodation: Luxury in a yurt or safari tent

With glamping, it is above all the unusual accommodation on a campsite that turns a holiday into an unforgettable experience. Depending on the campsite, guests can choose between a classic mobile home, a yurt, an airlodge, a safari tent, a wood lodge or a tree house. Glamping on a farm is particularly varied. The luxury and comfort of the accommodation can be combined with nature experiences. A farm holiday in a natural cottage with lots of contact with the animals is an unforgettable experience, especially for children.

Activities and excursions

Exciting day trips from the accommodation through the region and sporting activities in the open air guarantee that your glamping holiday will be remembered for a long time to come.

Hiking

Long hikes through the mountains are particularly recommended when glamping in Austria and other countries in the Alps. Many campsites are located in the middle of otherwise unspoilt landscapes, so you can start your hike right from there. In the warm summer months, campers can then hike over the high peaks and discover picturesque mountain lakes that guarantee a welcome cooling off. Those who like it a little more sporty can also try their hand at climbing. Far away from the steep mountains, hiking is also very popular in the low mountain ranges. Campers staying in the flat terrain of the Netherlands or northern Germany, on the other hand, can go on cycle tours. Holidaymakers have the option of hiring suitable bikes on site, which in many cases is organised directly by the campsite itself.

Water sports

The sunny months in the middle of the year are perfect for a beach and swimming holiday. The campsites in Italy, Croatia, Spain and other countries along the Mediterranean regularly offer various water sports. Kitesurfing is very popular, but stand-up paddling and diving are also becoming increasingly popular.

Events

Depending on what time of year you are travelling to the campsite, you can look forward to various events.

April/May

The season starts at many campsites at the beginning of spring. The campsites then invite you to open-air celebrations. The parties go late into the night, especially on the Mediterranean.

June/July

The Midsummer Festival is a firm tradition, especially in the Scandinavian countries. However, you can now also celebrate at the end of June in other parts of Europe.

September/October

In many European countries, the camping season ends in autumn. On the last weekend, campers can once again look forward to exuberant celebrations and various events.
