Glamour and camping don't go together? Far from it. Glamping is the new trend from the USA that combines the two. The result is something to be proud of: Glamping means holidays close to nature with a touch of luxury and comfort paired with the wonderful freedom and atmosphere of a campsite. Lake Constance is perfect for this. After all, this sun-kissed region has always combined luxury and nature in the most favourable way.

The most beautiful glamping locations on Lake Constance

The region around Lake Constance has long been a popular holiday destination. Extensive panoramic trails lead hikers and cyclists up hills and mountains. They offer breathtaking views of the glistening lake and the Alps.

Glamping on Lake Constance takes place directly on the water or in the hills. The northern shore between Meersburg and Friedrichshafen is particularly popular. Meersburg is considered the most beautiful town on the lake. It has a beautiful old town centre and the oldest inhabited castle in Germany. The most beautiful beaches on Lake Constance can also be found here. These include the marvellous natural beach at Friedrichshafen. The largest lido on Lake Constance awaits holidaymakers and locals at Hörnle near Constance. There is a huge sunbathing lawn, beach volleyball and children's playgrounds and even an enchanted nudist area.

Allensbach is located opposite the flower island of Reichenau. The pretty town with a panoramic view of the Alps on Lake Constance has something for everyone. Numerous cycle paths lead along colourful meadows and through shady forests. There are numerous hiking trails and a wide range of water sports. A regular ferry departs from Allensbach to the island of Mainau. Numerous campsites around Allensbach offer luxurious glamping accommodation, e.g. in huts, in pile dwellings or in sleeping barrels.

Popular places & excursion destinations in the region

Lake Constance has been inhabited for thousands of years. Many historic towns such as Constance at the mouth of the Rhine and Lindau opposite line its shores. Our ancestors have also left their mark here. This is particularly evident in the pile dwellings at Unteruhldingen, west of Meersburg.

Constance

Skippers can recognise the harbour entrance to Constance from afar. It is watched over by the Imperia, the great Constance courtesan who brought the Pope and Emperor to their knees at the Council of Constance. Here, where the Rhine flows into the lake, you will also find the picturesque district of Paradies, which lies on the left bank of the Rhine.

Unteruhldingen

The pile dwellings of Unteruhldingen have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011. The archaeological open-air museum was opened in 1922. It shows the reconstruction of 23 pile dwellings from the Stone and Bronze Ages and is one of the largest open-air museums in Europe.

Lindau on Lake Constance

Lindau also has a magnificent harbour entrance. Here, visitors marvel at the lion that guards the entrance to the town. Opposite it, the new lighthouse rises 33 metres into the air. Those who take the 139 steps to the top are rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view as far as the Swiss Alps.
