Glamping, the combination of camping and glamour, unites closeness to nature with luxury in a unique way. If you want to experience the fascination of glamping in Croatia, you will discover fantastic campsites in privileged locations along the coast. These are characterised by exclusive facilities and luxurious accommodation in the form of mobile homes, safari tents and lodge tents. Dogs are also welcome at many of the campsites.

Destinations

The child-friendly Lanterna Premium Camping Resort near Porec is an excellent example of a contemporary glamping site in Istria. Its extensive, terraced terrain facing the sea stretches out in front of an impressive rocky backdrop with the best facilities and a wide range of sports and leisure options. Camping is also possible in Medulin, Pomer and Vrsar. Depending on the pitch, amenities such as luxury box-spring beds, separate children's bedrooms, designer interiors with air conditioning and microwaves as well as private sanitary facilities ensure a sense of well-being. The facilities at the campsites are also impressive and include Wi-Fi, outdoor pools, sports and tennis courts and fitness rooms. There are usually paddling pools, playgrounds and children's clubs for the youngest guests. Thanks to the restaurants and breakfast service, guests' physical well-being is also catered for.

You can also enjoy the pleasures of glamping to the full in Kvarner Bay. How about the ADAC Superplatz Krk Premium Camping Resort on the island of Krk? Its top-equipped mobile homes and sun lodges promise pure luxury; its direct beach location, the heated outdoor pool and the numerous sports facilities on land and water leave nothing to be desired for leisure time. This campsite is also characterised by a particularly wide range of facilities for children, a beauty department and a sauna. There is a dog shower for four-legged friends.

Dalmatia also has a lot to offer when it comes to glamping. Whether at Camping Belvedere near Trogir, at Zaton Holiday Resort near Zadar or at Camping Beach Resort Solaris in Sibenik, these campsites offer luxury in a dreamlike natural setting with exclusive accommodation and a wide range of facilities. Gamerooms, wellness centres, aqua parks, pools, tennis courts and entertainment teams provide variety.

Top tips

  • Camping stands for an attitude to life that is closely linked to freedom and closeness to nature. This is also the case with glamping - just with a touch of luxury and cosy comfort. This type of camping is in vogue, which is why the opportunities for glamping in Croatia are constantly increasing.
  • The luxury of glamping begins with the comfortably furnished camping accommodation and continues with pleasantly large pitches. These offer comparatively more privacy than pitches on campsites. Furnished terraces, private sanitary facilities, equipped kitchens and comfortable beds noticeably increase the well-being of glampers.
  • Fully furnished rental accommodation is available for glamping. These can be lodge or safari tents, yurts, tiny houses or luxury mobile homes. In addition to kitchen utensils, bed linen and/or towels are often available or can be rented, which significantly reduces the effort required by campers.
  • A glamping site differs from a conventional campsite due to its upscale facilities. These are characterised, among other things, by sports and leisure facilities for all age groups and vary depending on the main theme. In addition to pure glamping sites, there are also those that only have a separate glamping area. It is therefore worth reading the campsite description carefully.
  • What facilities should your favourite campsite offer? A wellness centre, a sauna, a water park and/or a tennis court? By filtering online, you can find a campsite that suits your interests in no time at all.

Excursions and activities

Glamping in Croatia can be perfectly combined with exploring the country's natural and cultural attractions, such as the ten UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Croatia has a rich history and is known for the natural beauty of its long coastline, islands and mountainous hinterland.

Istria's insider tip: Cape Kamenjak

The southernmost tip of the Istrian peninsula, Cape Kamenjak, is home to the region's most beautiful bays. Cliff divers are drawn to the imposing cliffs of Velika Kolombarica; families love the fine pebbles of Skara Bay, which slopes gently into turquoise-blue water. In Grakalovac Pinizule Bay, the 600 metre long dinosaur trail with its fossilised footprints is an impressive experience.

Nature experiences in Kvarner Bay

One of the main attractions of the Kvarner Bay region is the UNESCO World Heritage Site Plitvice Lakes National Park. Trails connect the individual lakes and offer magnificent views of waterfalls and wooded gorges. Further south, the Krka National Park with its forests, waterfalls and caves is another worthwhile excursion destination.

The pearls of Dalmatia

As UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the historic centres of three cities are among the most popular sights in Dalmatia: the Split complex with Diocletian's Palace and the old towns of Trogir and Dubrovnik. Each is uniquely charming and worth a visit in its own right.

Events and festivals in Croatia

Numerous festivals and events with different focuses take place throughout Croatia, especially during the summer months.

July

In the middle of the month, guests from all over the world celebrate the "Ultra Europe Festival" in Split. At the end of July/beginning of August, around 80 male choirs from the country compete at the "Festival of Dalmatian Singing Groups" in Omis. Croatia's oldest film festival is a celebrated event every year in the last week of July at Fort Punta Christo in Pula. Between mid-July and the end of August, the "Dubrovnik Summer Festival" takes place every year with its mixture of dance, song and theatre.

August

The annual summer carnival in Senj attracts visitors from all over the world. On the Makarska Riviera, the "Kalelarga Festival" with klapa music and culinary delights takes place as part of the cultural summer.
