From Lake Tegernsee and Lake Starnberg or Lake Chiemsee to Lake Walchensee or Lake Schliersee, small and large bodies of water in Bavaria beckon you to take a break. Many campsites are located in the immediate vicinity of lidos and hidden bathing bays as well as wonderful cycling and walking paths along the shore. On top of this, there is the marvellous Alpine panorama. And the odd hiking excursion high above the lake is also a must.

The Free State of Bavaria is a real paradise for water lovers and campers who enjoy spending their holidays by the water. The quality of the campsites is consistently high - fantastic panoramic views of the Alps are available almost everywhere for free. We present eight of the most beautiful lakeside campsites in Bavaria.
The Free State of Bavaria is the largest federal state in Germany and in many respects a state of superlatives. This also applies to the numerous lakes: there are over 400 lakes in Bavaria, each one more beautiful than the next. And the best thing is that many of them are home to fantastic campsites that invite you to spend relaxing days in the sun, on the beach and in the cool water, especially in summer.
What is the most beautiful lake in Bavaria? The imposing Lake Constance, the world-famous Königssee in the Berchtesgaden Alps or the turquoise-blue sparkling Eibsee, also known as the "Bavarian Caribbean"? We can't decide - after all, tastes differ. But what we can show you are some of the most beautiful campsites on the Bavarian lakes.
The following campsites receive very good ratings on PiNCAMP and are among the most popular campsites in Bavaria. Some, such as Strandcamping Waging, have even been awarded the coveted "ADAC Superplatz" seal by the ADAC. But the other campsites are also impressive and offer the best conditions for summer days by the lake. We wish you lots of fun for your next holiday!
This fantastic family campsite is located right next to the beach and offers a wide range of leisure activities for young and old. While the children let off steam in the indoor playground or ride ponies, you can take part in a football training session with two former professionals. Let the wind blow around your nose on a boat trip across Lake Waginger See - boats are available for hire. Alternatively, the Bajuwarenmuseum shows you how the ancient Bavarian medieval tribe of the Bajuwaren developed from Germanic tribes and Romans. Marvel at the archaeological finds and immerse yourself in the history of the ancient Bavarian tribe!
The Alpen-Caravanpark Tennsee is located between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Mittenwald. In mountainous Upper Bavaria, majestic peaks tower towards the sky. When the sun makes the mighty rock massifs glisten, you get a real mountain feeling. With the Höllentalklamm and Partnachklamm gorges, you have two sights in the immediate vicinity that you can explore. The fairytale royal castles also invite you to linger and dream. The Tennsee campsite also has a children's playroom where the little ones can romp around while their parents go on a shopping spree in the on-site Tennsee shop or pursue other leisure activities.
The Main-Spessart-Park campsite is located in the Franconian town of Lengfurt. The cathedral city of Würzburg is a good destination for a day trip. The Würzburg Residence with its enchanting palace gardens and the Marienberg Fortress, which towers on a hill above the city, are definitely worth a visit. There are several bathing opportunities close to the campsite: An outdoor pool, a bathing lake and an indoor pool invite you to splash around. If the adults want to play a round of beach volleyball, they can let their children be entertained by experienced entertainers in the meantime!
The Hopfensee campsite is located in Hopfen am See, which is a district of Füssen. You can stretch your legs on the 7-kilometre Hopfen circular trail and catch a glimpse of the impressive Alpine peaks. Back at the campsite, you can relax in the beauty centre or work out in the fitness room. Parents and their toddlers can cool off in the so-called Zwergerlbad. A holiday in Hopfen am See is pure relaxation!
